Reality Check

Why does it take something huge to happen for us to realise something else?  We carry on day in day out, doing what makes us happen; doing what makes us money, getting on with our lives.  When we stress, things seem to pick up pace and when we chill they slow down again.  Why though, does something rather large and scary have to happen in order to give us a wakeup call in life?

You often hear people saying that after they’d experienced something dramatic and life threatening that it’s made them realise something to do with their life.  Doesn’t this scare you? That we have to have something happen first in order to realise what we have in our life?

I guess this applies to all of us… we seem to get so tangled up in our own lives that we sometimes tend to forget about others.  About what’s been going on with them, how they are feeling, what news THEY have to share.  Unfortunately it is the hard life truth with human beings that in order to realise… something has to happen.  I guess this is reality.  A scary one that is.

Reality is specific to the individual. This doesn’t have to be your reality if you don’t want it to be. Thanks for the reminder – I don’t want it to be mine!
