Seclusion, Peace and Harmony

I love it when it rains because then I get to go to my favourite place…. The Silvermine Waterfall, just off Ou Kaapse Weg road.  The best time to go is after the rain because then the Waterfall will be full and lush as it slides down the rocky edges of the stones.

The lead up to the Waterfall is quite different, it’s dry, sandy and stony and it feels as if you are walking along a very long dirt road.  However, then you reach the landmark of the sun dial and there it is… the sign to the rocky pathway that leads down to the forest water land of seclusion…… Once you’ve walked down the path way, there is a particular spot on this walk when you reach a handmade wooden deck which is surrounded by trees, flowers and plants. It almost feels as if you are entering a tropical forest (especially if it’s a hot day).  Down that wooden deck is the waterfall.

This place is almost too beautiful to describe… it’s full of big trees, trickling water that runs all the way down to a lake at the bottom of the mountain and tiny rock pools. There is an amazing spot to sit and have a picnic right next to the running water and it’s perfect with a bunch of friends.

If you haven’t been there before, you should try and go.  If you are looking for a quiet, tranquil gentle place to have peace of mind and seclusion, this is the perfect place to go.
